| Why attempt reproduction oil paintings? I hoped that this exercise in reproduction oil paintings would improve my own techniques and oil paintings also give me a better understanding of the medium. Although originally my idea was to give myself a kind of 'busman's holiday' and create something other than a watercolour painting or pencil drawing, but I must say I found creating reproduction paintings great fun to do. There are a lot of reproduction oil paintings around especially out in cyber land, but work displayed on most web sites are photographs of the original work and not of the reproduction oil paintings they are offering which I found quite misleading for any prospected customer. The oil paintings you see here are all reproductions, but then you knew that didn't you. China seems to be a hotbed of reproduction paintings, but quite a lot of it is painted on a production line basis, I found it quite amusing to see rows and rows of people all turning out parts of a single painting or all working on a different version of the same old master. At least mine are painted by 1 artist with a desire to create something rewarding to himself and expand his own technique. I will accept commissions to reproduce any painting currently in the public domain which does not infringe current copyright law. Reproduction oil paintings are on canvas and take approximately 1 month each to complete, all commission oil paintings require a deposit of £50.00 GBP which must be paid in advance. |
